Spring Trend Alert! Spider Lashes!

All over the runway the influence of the 60's has taken over!
Twiggy lashes are baaackk!!!
The Runway at Gucci, celebs like Rihanna, Ginnifer Goodwin and of course, Kim Kardashian -  all have been spotted with spiky, spidery lashes!

You can still achieve this look without using false lashes, and I'll tell you how!
First, you want to make sure your lashes are all clean, no mascara from the day/night before! Start off using a lengthening mascara, like L'Oreal's Telescopic mascara, or MAC's Extended Play Gigablack mascara over all of your lashes, top and bottom. These mascara's don't get clumpy easily, so later it on to get those lashes as long as possible!
Then, you want to immediately go over your lashes, while they are still wet, with a volumizing mascara (top and bottom as well). This can get clumpy, some spidery lashes are clumpy, you may have to remove a few clumps with your fingers while applying the second and third coats of mascara.
I personally LOVE L'Oreal's Voluminous mascara. This mascara is super black and gives all the added volume you want! Letting you create you spider lash super easily! You can purchase Lancome's Hypnose mascara, but for almost $20 less, the L'Oreal does it's job well!

If you are going out and want to use false lashes to intensify your look, purchase spiky, spidery ones that fit your style! (I love putting strip lashes on first then adding extra long individual lashes sporadically over the lash line to give an extra spidery effect).

For bottom lashes, you would want to apply individual lashes spaced appropriately to achieve the spider look you're going for.
*This may take a little time, but this look is worth it for your night out*

How to Organize Your Jewelry...

There are so many fun ways to display jewelry. Doing this uses more of your imagination than anything else!

For Bracelets:
Counter top paper towel rods are great if you want them stacked and takes up less space. If you have more space, the velvet bracelet racks are great so you can really see all the bracelets you have!

For Necklaces:

Tack them up on pretty cork boards is a great way to showcase your necklaces and/or earrings, but if you want them separate, a hooked tie rack for the wall is my favorite!

For Rings:
Use a small decorative bowl for rings if you have a large collection. If you only have a select few favorites, you can get cute acrylic rings holders on amazon.

All-In-One Jewelry Holder:
Container Store and Amazon have great jewelry holders that you can hang on your door, in your closet, or on a hook in your wall! These are especially great for earrings. You can keep them in pairs and see what you have!

Need Glasses? Go Firmoo!!

I happen to come across this great site (www.firmoo.com), and even though I don't wear glasses, I purchased sunglasses and was very happy with the service and product!

If you need glasses, or sunglasses (prescription or not), Firmoo is the place to go!

I got the frames below as sunglasses, non-prescription, and I am extremely happy with them. They are well made and don't hurt behind my ears (sometimes plastic frames give me a headache!)

What I really liked about their page is how they speak of their Vision right on their homepage ~

Our Aim - Vision & Fashion the Frugal Way

  • Vision - An ideal pair of prescription glasses as a half medical tool to correct vision should be made up of a quality frame and lenses with accurate prescription. We promise all our eyeglasses frames are of high quality. Besides, all eyewear provided by us goes through strict inspection by our experienced opticians before shipping to ensure the accuracy of lens prescription. That's why we keep the lowest return and exchange rate among all online optical stores worldwide.
  • Fashion - We offer classic and fashion glasses frames for you to choose from. All of these frames which are quite popular in the world are elaborately picked by our staff from thousands of frames in the market.
  • Frugal way - Our prescription eyeglasses are inexpensive even though with high quality, therefore, everyone can afford it.

Doesn't get better than that!!

I don't usually purchase sunglasses online because I never know how they are going to fit (I have a small head and glasses are too large more often than not), however these happen to fit great  (I was so excited!)!

I looked at their return/exchange policy (because I had a feeling I may need to use it) and it seemed quite easy to have them exchanged if they didn't.
Once I chose the frames I wanted, the process was quite easy and straight forward- I hate when I have to question myself if I am answering a question correctly!

I spoke with a representative at Firmoo, and I told them how I loved their product and since I am writing a blog about them, they were gracious enough to have my followers/readers get their first pair FOR FREE (you just pay shipping)!! Regular glasses OR Sunglasses!!

Please Click Here to check out the GREAT DEAL and get your FREE glasses!! Everyone should be taking advantage of this!!

How to Organize your Shoes...

Now that your handbags are all set and displayed properly, lets move onto shoes!

Just like your bags, go through and see what you don't need. Classics are always good to save, but those prom shoes? Maybe time to donate or sell.

If shoes are extremely worn, probably best to toss, but if they are gently worn or not too bad, sell or donate. Not everyone can afford brand new shoes- there's your good deed for the day!

There are a few ways to organize those shoes so you can see them all.

Hanging is one of the most popular if you have the space. In the back of your closet, or on an open wall, hang them by the heel so you can see all your shoes at one glance.

If you are using door space, using see an organizer with see through pockets would be your best bet.

If the amount of space you have available is on the smaller side, either purchasing clear boxes so you can see in them, or attaching a photo to the front of their original box, lets you see what's inside quickly as well. I keep all my shoes in boxes and eliminates dust.

These front opening boxes are great,
you don't have to worry about boxes falling on top of you if you want shoes on the bottom.

Now for boots - the most annoying part of shoe organization! And if your like me, you have TONS of boots!

You can consider hanging boots, especially stiff ones like riding boots. Boots will take up a lot of floor space, so this will eliminate that problem. Ones that can be folded can be placed in boxes if you prefer.

Since boots are seasonal, once that season is over pack them away until next year. They take up too much room to keep all year round!

How to Properly Organize your Handbags...

People seem to constantly ask me how they should organize their bags, shoes, makeup, jewelry, lingerie and knits. So here we go!

Today we are working on Handbags!

First, you want to divide up your bags into 2 piles. What you are keeping, and what you are tossing (donating/selling). This includes going through your overnight bags to your smallest of clutches. Get rid of anything you don't want, don't use, etc.

Once that is done, taking your "tossing" pile and make some extra cash! Use apps like Poshmark or create a page on Etsy.com. You can sell your products online (as long as they are in good condition). Another free idea: create an album on your Facebook page "for sale: gently used items and more", also post on your twitter! Take photos of each item separately and put prices in the captions with a little description. If you don't have the time, or just don't want to sell - donate! Goodwill, Salvation Army, local charities, they all will take used items. Don't just trash when the money can go to a good cause!

OK, so now back to organizing!
Rule One: Don't place smaller bags in larger ones because you'll tend to forget you put them there and then you'll end up purchasing duplicate items because you didn't realize you had it in the first place. Or you may give away 2 items when you thought I were giving away one (so always check inside before tossing).
If you are using a shelf or hook, always put the tallest bags in the back and get smaller as you come forward. That way you can see all your bags from the front (and place bag back where it belongs when done, don't just throw it anywhere, that's when you start to not realize what you have).

You may want to section out type of bags, if you have the space.
You can section by color, type of bag or type of event you may use it for.

For larger bags, you don't want to loose their shape once displayed, stuff with tissue paper or old clothing to keep that bag standing tall!

Reminder- DO NOT store away wet leather. If you get stuck in the rain with your leather bag or clutch, stuff it and keep it out in an open room to air dry before putting away.  If you don't it can ruin the color of the leather and/or the shape of the bag.

Stay tuned for the next blog about organizing shoes...

Last Tuesday, February 12th, I hosted a Fashion and Networking Cocktail Event at the Woman's Club of White Plains.

It was a great low key night of shopping, mingling with new and old faces, while also getting a chance to hear about the upcoming Spring 2013 Fashion Trends. Over 30 women came together to spend a few hours out of the house.

Each seat and their Swag Bags

Many of the woman's club members donated refreshments including cupcakes, muffins, chips, cheese and crackers, fruit, wine, soda, water and a delicious rum punch (that I wish I had some to drink now!)
